St.Anton offers some of the best skiing to be found in the world but there are plenty of other things that you can do in the resort apart from ski. Anything from taking on the 4.2km sled run or paragliding from the top of the mountain to the bottom. Maybe just relaxing in a warm swimming pool or easing the strains of skiing in a sauna or steam room.... Here are a few of the attractions that St.Anton has to offer.

Tennis & Squash

St.Anton has three indoor tennis courts at the Sports Hall that is adjacent to the railway station. Each year in early December , Yannick Noah organises an invitation tournament here in the village so you know that the courts are good. There is also a squash court in the sports hall - strangely a good game of squash is quite relaxing after a day out on the slopes and keeps you away from too much apres ski... The Sports Hall is open 09.00 - 23.00

The Rodel Run

What is a rodel ride then ? - basically it is sledging. On the slopes above St.Anton there is a 4.2km toboggan run that goes from the top of Gampen back down into Nasserein just above the gondola station. You can stop for a rest halfway down at the Rodelhutte or carry on all the way to the finish at the Rodelstall. Food and drink is served in both places. You can hire your toboggan at the Rodelhutte or at any of the sports shops. Further information is available at the main lift stations.

Horse Drawn Carriage

Something very different here, if you are having a day off from skiing (why??!!) you could take a ride into the beautiful Verwall area in a horse drawn carriage. This is one of the prettiest areas around St.Anton and is well worth it.

The Ski Museum

The Ski Museum is also well worth a visit. On display are many items of old ski equipment as well as photographs and displays relating to the long history of the famous Arlberg area of Austria - quite fascinating. As the ski museum is also one of the nicest restaurants in St.Anton why not combine the experience with a great meal. To find your way to the Museum head up the hill from the roundabout at the bottom of the new Gondola station (Alte Arlbergstrasse) and after about 100m turn right into Rudi Matt Weg, the museum is on the left adjacent to the ski slope just after the "Underground on the Piste" apres ski bar.

Sauna & Steam

Also to found in the St.Anton Wellness Centre is a great suite of sauna and steam rooms. However you should be aware that here in Austria this whole "wet" area is nude and mixed sex - so if you are at all shy....... Don't worry you do get used to it pretty quickly !! There is a path from the pedestrian area that winds up to the Wellness Centre behind the Schwarzer Adler Hotel or alternatively you can walk down from the Galzigbahn, past the St.Anton (red) ski school building and this will also get you there.
